QIPCO British Champions Series is just like Game of Thrones!

The banners of the great houses of the QIPCO British Champions Series have been raised and the fight is set to continue with the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday 18th May.
 
With the final season of Game of Thrones well under way, Great British Racing has created its very own map of Westeros, inspired by the opening sequence of the award-winning TV show.
 
Each guide will visit one of the 10 kingdoms involved in the QIPCO British Champions Series, before descending on King’s Landing (Ascot) for QIPCO British Champions Day on Saturday 19th October.
 
There is more than £20 million worth of prize money available throughout the 35 races of this year’s QIPCO British Champions Series, which showcases the finest flat racing, with the 2018 Series featuring six of the world’s top 12 races.
 
The first episode takes a look at Newbury Racecourse, home of the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, the second race in the mile category of the 2019 QIPCO British Champions Series.

The Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, with prize money of £350,000, was first run at Newbury Racecourse in 1958 and has seen some famous previous winners, with Frankel emerging victorious in 2012 on his way to winning an incredible nine QIPCO British Champions Series races.
 
For the 2019 renewal, five-time Group 1 winner and Queen in the North, Queen Laurens of House Dance, is set to travel south to challenge her mile category rivals.
