‘The Glory is a born winner’ says the reviewer and broadcaster, Amanda Craig.

Lauren St John is the bestselling author of The One Dollar Horse series, as well as The White Giraffe novels and the Laura Marlin mysteries, for which she won the prestigious Blue Peter Book Award. She has now turned her attention to endurance riding, one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and has written a sensational, stand-alone equestrian thriller called The Glory about a gruelling 1,200 mile horse race across the American West.

Alexandra Blakewood has everything any teenager could wish for, apart from the horse she’d love, but she won’t stop getting into trouble. Sent to a US boot camp, she dreams of escaping. It seems impossible until she’s told about a race called ‘The Glory’, a deadly endurance race with a $250,000 purse, open to any rider daring enough to attempt it. Now she is a girl on the run from the law….

Will Greyton, was the star student at his Tennessee high school until his father was laid off. Now Will works at a burger joint. When his dad falls ill, it seems things can’t get any worse. An operation will save him, but there’s no way to pay for it. Then Will hears about ‘The Glory’, and he becomes a boy on a mission to save a life.

‘The Glory’, which starts in Colorado and ends in Oregon (via Wyoming and Idaho), is a race both Alexandra and Will have to win.

Lauren St John grew up on a farm and game reserve in Zimbabwe, Africa, where she has a pet giraffe, two warthogs, six cats, eight dogs and eight horses, the inspiration for her memoir Rainbow’s End, and award-winning White Giraffe series. Almost her earliest memory was being in love with horses, and as a child, she dreamed of being a famous eventer like Casey Blue in her bestselling One Dollar Horse trilogy. Never did she imagine that she might one day be given the chance to write novels about them, let alone ride a palomino mustang through the mountains of Wyoming in the interests of research.

The Glory is Lauren’s latest novel for older readers. You can find out more about Lauren St John and her books by visiting www.laurenstjohn.com
