Doncaster’s racing heritage goes back as far as 1776 making St Leger the oldest Classic in the world. It may be a Classic race, but the racegoer’s fashion style is bang up to date!

Our Firm Fashion Trend Favourites:  Jumpsuits and Kimonos.

The jumpsuit has been a front runner in the trend race all through the summer season and this is set to continue throughout the autumn/winter.

With a high neckline and capped sleeves’s Definitions jumpsuit is a great transitional piece to jump from late summer to early autumn. Plus the style is versatile as it offers a minimalistic canvas to dress up for special occasions such as St Leger’s Ladies’ Day or to keep simple for a low-key affair.

But don’t be fooled by its demure front as the back has a cheeky deep V neckline panelled in vintage style lace. Side pockets are handy for your betting slips.

Price £59. Sizes range from 8 to 24. Also available in black.

Instead of the usual pashmina, slip on the ‘must have’ kimono.

Here are two different styles to choose from:

Miss Selfridge’s burnt orange fringed Kimono brings a warm tone to the cool bluish-purple jumpsuit and adds a touch of boho chic with its floral embroidered detailing and long tassels on the hem. Price £65. Available online and in stores.

River Island’s cream floral kimono has more of the ’20s vintage feel in silky satin and is a limited edition. Price £40.

Accessorise with Dune’s Eazie Swirl vintage style Beaded clutch bag in gold £55 (also available in silver). Features a beaded swirl pattern with a diamante centrepiece.

Complement the kimono with an obi belt. Wear the wide belt over the kimono or wear under it to keep that kimono loose and flowing.

Style note: If you don’t have a much of a waist, a belt under an open jacket/kimono will give the illusion of a slimmer waist.

Designer brand Uroco has created a collection of one off obi pieces using vintage silk kimono fabrics in various colours and prints. We’ve chosen the Antique Peony on Purple Haze to match our purple and orange theme. In hand dyed crepe silk.  Price £70.

For alternative colours and prints see the full collection via Boticca:
