What is your advice on headwear for The Festival?

GEORGIE: I only tend to wear hats if I know I am not going to have to take it off all day, otherwise you can suffer from hat hair! I like hats generally if it is cold, if I go without a hat on the first day of The Festival I know I can always go and buy one from the many shops in the tented village.

Maria Cheslin – Best Hat 2009

My advice would be to wear a hat that won’t blow away otherwise it will drive you mad all day if you are having to hold onto it.

MEALLY: My advice is wear whatever hat you love the look of… I have big ones, small ones and some with feathers and some without. I even have a zebra print hat that matches some zebra print shoes!

LIZ: Again, as the weather is usually still quite cold, hats should be winter ones that serve a purpose rather than fascinators and veils that are more about fashion. So felt, fur, trilbys and so on all look good, whereas huge fashion statement hats do not.

Good make up is essential too, and a nice bright coat with a good lipstick and hat with a few feathers can look a million dollars.
