There are 63 fixtures in total over the festive period this year, with over 50 showcasing racing’s unique Under 18’s Race Free offering.

This includes top-class racing taking place on Boxing Day at Fontwell Park, Huntingdon, Kempton Park, Market Rasen, Sedgefield, Wetherby, Wincanton and Wolverhampton, which are all U18’s Race Free fixtures.

If you are keen to get out of the house after being cooped up with the family on Christmas Day then there is no better Boxing Day activity than going to see some top-class racing at one of the eight horse racing fixtures around the country.

The 32Red Winter Festival on Boxing Day at Kempton Park boasts no fewer than three Grade 1 races, including the 32Red King George VI Steeple Chase, one of the most famous jumps races in the country. The roll of honour for the King George VI includes five-time winner Kauto Star, as well as last year’s winner Might Bite, who will take on Native River in an attempt to reclaim his crown. The pair had an enthralling battle in the Timico Gold Cup at Cheltenham in March, with Native River coming out on top on that occasion. Other potential star horses in this year’s race include Waiting Patiently, Politologue, 2016 King George VI winner Thistlecrack and two-time Betfair Chase champion Bristol de Mai.

Meanwhile at Fontwell Park on Boxing Day, the site will be transformed into a winter wonderland with reindeers, an ice rink and festive food and beverages, as well as a variety of game stalls. At Market Rasen the Lincolnshire National will take place, one of the region’s biggest races of the year, while at Huntingdon Boxing Day is regarded as the racecourse’s biggest event if the year, welcoming over 8,000 people.
