Top Flat Jockey Hayley Turner (centre) along with her rivals Sophie Doyle (blue dress) and Laura Pike (muddy jockey) are promoting a unique evening’s racing. On Monday 1 August 2011, Carlisle racecourse will stage the world’s first race meeting confined to lady jockeys.
Hayley is the first woman to ride 100 winners in a year in Britain. She’s won several sporting awards, including Channel 4's Racing Personality of the Year.
She says, “I hope this unique race night will showcase women jockeys’ talent and encourage more women into racing.”
Carlisle’s ‘girls only’ evening, branded the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Ultimate Ladies Night, will feature six flat races confined to lady Jockeys, a fashion celebration and a live concert by Alexandra Burke, winner of ITV’s X-Factor. The first race will be a charity event in aid of Breast Cancer Care and the Breast Cancer Campaign.
Tickets start from £13.60, which includes the racing and concert. Visit carlisle-races.co.uk or call 0844 579 3002 for information and tickets.
