On Saturday 20th of April, Nottingham Racecourse is staging a high profile Student Raceday featuring `It’s a Jock Out`.

An Inter-Varsity University Challenge, to introduce a younger generation to the thrill of a day at the races and in the process raise money for Racing Welfare, the charity that helps the sport’s unsung heroes and heroines – the stable staff who look after the nation’s racehorses.

The University Teams will be encouraged to participate in activities such as; time trial races over an ‘It’s a Knockout’ style inflatable obstacle course, competing in a simulated race, over the distance of two miles, on a practice Equicisor and in addition a Take Me Out style Game Show, where each team will nominate a female contestant who will be judged by some rather special guests.

A Charity race is also being held, with the opportunity of the 12 amateur riders either being a student or a graduate from that University or College. University Teams would be required to raise a minimum of £2,500 in sponsorship for Racing Welfare.

There will be a League Table throughout the event recording the points each Team has received from the various activities, as well as being awarded points for the most amount of money raised in Sponsorship, with an overall prize going to the winning University.

All students with an NUS Card will be given free admission for this fixture and if it was confirmed that a large enough amount of people were prepared to attend the event, transport will be provided.

Furthermore, there will be an after racing concert, with `A Fight You Can't Win` performing.
