The raceday at Uttoxeter on 29th November 2012 featured a total of six races, with the first race setting off at 12:45pm.

However, not only were there the races to enjoy, but also Uttoxeter kicked-started the festive spirit with a Christmas market. There were a dozen stalls, mainly handcrafted, such as jewellery, not to forget the delicious food such as Christmas cakes and fudge, which were all beautifully designed.

As well as the races and festivities going on, campaigners for Breast Cancer Awareness were there, promoting their charity which was all for a good cause.

Second Race: The 13:20 Crabbie’s Spiffing Alcoholic Ginger Beer Novices’ Hurdle was won by Grouse Lodge (7/2) with Jason Maguire riding for Donald McCain (Jnr) – they managed to clinch the race after a gruelling battle for the finish against Big Society under Gerald Quinn who started off as favourite.

Third Race: The 13:55 John Crabbie’s Cloudy Ginger Beer Handicap Hurdle was rather unexpectedly won by Bosamcliff at 33/1, who beat favourite Me Fein (5/2) into second place with Marleno (9/1) coming in third.

Fourth Race: The 14.30 Lambrini Handicap Hurdle saw yet another favourite turned over as T Garner riding Sail And Return won the race at 12/1, with Storm Alert (3/1f) coming second and Canadian Dreamer (8/1) third.

Karen can usually be found glued to her computer or at the stables. Having edited several national magazines she co-founded Eclipse Magazine in 2008 after realising that many of her friends were nervous about going racing due to lack of information – what to wear, how to bet etc.

She absolutely loves her job (how many people can say that?!) and is truly grateful to all supporters of and contributors to Eclipse Magazine.

If you are reading this she would like to say THANK YOU! (And please spread the word about Eclipse...!!)
