To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill hotel is serving a special Mad Hatter’s Afternoon tea from June until 8th September 2015 in The Montagu restaurant.
On display are 20 couture headpieces created by milliner duo Lomax and Skinner including five pieces specially designed for the occasion. But which one will you go mad over?
Mad hatter…..French lace on a sinamay straw base with silk rose, feathers top hat, quirky shape worn angled on the head.
Alice bow…..blue duchess satin asymmetrical bow overlaid with vintage veiling and fine feathers.
White Rabbit…..white feathers and duchess satin hand shaped bunny ears finished off with vintage veiling and ribbon.
Queen of hearts……parasisal straw red heart with a burst of hand cut feathers and vintage playing cards cut in to hearts on wire stems.
Cherry pie…..straw tart base filled with satin for the Crème patisserie and glacé fruit with gold veiling.
The dynamic duo will also be ‘Artists in Residence’ at the Hyatt on 7th July (for an ambassador’s wives lunch); 30th July and 1st September for the Tatler Magazine reader event. On these days they will be making hats and are on hand for any advice needed for hat styles suiting people and what to wear for different hat wearing occasions.

Lomax & Skinner are couture milliners. Every element of the design can be tailored and personalised. All of the designs are handmade using wooden hat blocks, hand shaping and sewing paying close attention to detail. Every hat is fitted specifically to the wearer, and fully lined for comfort. Feathers are trimmed and dyed, and the fabrics are carefully selected and hand dyed to match customers outfit.

‘Eat Me’ treats include Mad Hatter’s vanilla and strawberry hats, and Queen of Hearts jam tarts, whilst ‘Drink Me’ includes a specially concocted Eat Me Drink Me gin cocktail, raspberry elderflower sparkling tonic, and of course a wide selection of afternoon of teas.
