Lizzie Kelly storms to victory aboard Tea For Two in the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton

Lizzie Kelly galloped to a 16-length victory on Tea For Two in the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton Park Racecourse on 10th January 2015.

The 21-year-old conditional jockey from South Molton rode the six-year-old 9/2 joint favourite owned by her mother Jane Williams and trained by her stepfather Nick Williams at his George Nympton yard.

She finishing a remarkable 16 lengths clear of Little Boy Boru to claim her second win in an important Saturday race, the first being on Aubusson in the Fixed Brush Handicap Hurdle at Haydock in November. This was also the third time Nick Williams has trained the Lanzarote Hurdle winner.

Jane Williams said: “I wasn’t surprised he won but I didn’t expect him to leave a good field like that behind him like that.

“There was never any question of anyone else riding him as Lizzie broke him in when he was three and rides him. He is not the most straightforward although you wouldn’t believe it the way he has won today.”
