A busy June at Hamilton Park will continue in 'Superkool' style this evening (8 June) with an all singing, dancing and racing Summer Party Night.
Among a seven-race card worth more than £30,000, all the action will be brought to life by Channel 4’s Derek Thompson.
The first race at 6pm is for amateur riders only and has attracted a maximum field of 16. The feature race is a £7,000 handicap over six furlongs for four-years-old and upwards. Jobe, trained by Kevin Ryan and ridden by Julie Burke to win in Lanarkshire last week, returns as one of the top weights with Philip Makin venturing north to try and score, again under a penalty.
Elsewhere Sean Harley returns from Ireland with three horses including last year’s Scottish Trophy winner Belle Noverre running in the nine furlong Selling Stakes.
After racing there is live music from Superkool (to the general public in the Parade Ring Marquee) and from Michael Bublé tribute Kevin Rodgers (to those booking a Party Night dinner package in the Club Lawn Marquee).
Vivien Kyles, Chief Executive of Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “We’re really looking forward to our Summer Party Night and in particular to welcoming Derek Thompson back to Hamilton Park.
“Following his Hamilton Park ‘debut’ we received heaps of positive comments on how he really added to the atmosphere and occasion so it’s a real bonus to welcome back one of the recognisable voices of racing again tonight (Wednesday) and throughout the season.”
Gates open at Summer Party Night at 4pm with first race at 6pm.
