The resumption of the jump racing season at Haydock Park coincides with the school half-term holidays, so it’s a family day at the racecourse on Wednesday 27 October.
Lots of Halloween entertainments are being laid on for children – all of whom are admitted free with adults – including wizards and vampires performing pocket magic and balloon tricks, and witches and skeletons handing out chocolate eyeballs.
There will be face painting and a spooky craft workshop, plus a fancy dress competition for which the prize is a £50 Toys’R’us voucher. As a bonus, all children will be given a free scary sweets bag.
As well as all under 18’s being given complimentary admission to the racecourse, students with a valid student card also get in free.
The horseracing gets under way at 2.20pm, with the final race at 5.10pm. The feature race is the £10,000 Hager Sollysta Handicap Chase.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s horse What A Friend is being aimed at Haydock Park’s £200,000 Betfair Chase on Saturday 20 November.
He will take on the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander who will make his seasonal debut in the highlight of the jump racing season at the racecourse.
Saturday 20 November is the opening day of the Northwest Racing Masters which continues at Aintree Racecourse on Sunday 21st.
Haydock Park has also launched a new-look website which can be found at www.haydock-park.co.uk. It has clearer navigation and a revamped look. New features include an interactive racecourse guide, a conference and events planner, a company blog and integrated social media feeds.
Admission to the fixture on Wednesday 27 October starts from £8 for adults. Under 18s, accompanied by an adult, enter free of charge. Students admitted free, upon production of a valid student card.
