With a stylish summer garden party atmosphere, Glorious Goodwood is about dressing up smart but not stuffy. They encourage you to ‘Take the joy of fashion and run with it’. Our firm fashion favourites will certainly race ahead.

Dress code for Richmond Enclosure: Something similar to a summer wedding outfit, an effortless dress that feels fun but chic is the order of the day. The wearing of hats is encouraged.

Jeans, shorts and fancy dress are not allowed in any of the enclosures.

Our Firm Fashion Trend Favourites: PJs, and Botanical Blooms.

Don’t be caught napping in your pyjamas, this season is all about wearing them during the day. The trend ranges from real satin PJ’s to pyjama inspired co-ordinates. Whichever you choose, the pyjamas have to look smart and glamorous – definitely not as though you have just rolled out of bed.

Wallis has collaborated with British print designer Hermione De Paula to create a capsule wardrobe including a pyjama-inspired matching top and pants in a botanical print. The jacket/top is loose fitting and has fuchsia pink piping emulating the PJ style. Wear closed or open with a camisole.

Price £40 from Wallis.

Matching pants rest just above the ankle and have a fuchsia pink drawstring fastening again emulating the pyjama style.

Price £40 from Wallis.

Glorious Goodwood is renowned for the Panama hat. Traditionally worn by the men but fashion trends dictate this is also a style for the ladies. The simplicity of the Panama will work well with PJs, complementing them whilst allowing them to take centre stage. Pick out the pink in the PJs and go for a fuchsia pink panama.

Rana Hat panama sun hat – handmade in straw with a white grosgrain ribbon.

Price £66.55 from RanaHats at Etsy.

Putting together this outfit is no (sleep) walk in the park. It can’t look as though you’ve just woken up and dragged yourself out of bed, so replace those bedroom slippers with a pair of dressy heels.

Larez white leather sandals from Moda in Pelle have a thick block heel – ideal for Goodwood with its rough terrain and decking. They also have a padded sock for extra cushioning whilst still managing to look elegant with thin straps and glamorous chains.

Price – was £89.95 now £59.95 from Moda in Pelle.

Don’t be afraid to mix prints. Mixing prints work best if they have a colour in common, are a different scale and not too similar in pattern. We’ve singled out the palm print and the turquoise colour in the PJs for our clutch.

Palm Print clutch from Oliver Bonas. Price £25.

Pile on the glamour with a statement necklace. Again we’ve pulled the turquoise out of the PJ print for this John & Pearl Tropicalia necklace from Cadenzza. The gold plated necklace features turquoise ribbon and crystals from Swarovski.

Price – was £160 now £85 from Cadenzza.

And if you’re tired after a fun day at the races? Just crawl into bed, you already have your pyjamas on!
