British supermodel and official face of the 2011 Investec Derby Festival, Erin O’Connor, has unveiled the exotic millinery creation by Louis Mariette which she will proudly display at the ‘peacock parade’, otherwise known as Investec Ladies Day.

The event takes place this year on Friday 3rd June at Epsom Downs Racecourse and is sure to be a fashion spectacle to rival the impending Royal Wedding.

Louis Mariette, creator of the world’s most expensive hat, is quick to offer his opinion on the potential style differences between the two occasions.  The inspiration behind the bespoke Derby hat was drawn from the kaleidoscopic colourings of the Lilac Breasted Roller bird (native to Africa), so despite the array of colours and styles on display on Investec Ladies Day, Erin is sure to stand out in the crowd modeling Louis’s bold creation.  In contrast, he believes that "most will play it safe" at the Royal Wedding: "the pressure is on but one should never outshine the bride".

Renowned for her classic English beauty and elegance, Erin harbours an enthusiasm for horseracing, which makes her the perfect candidate for the role of promoting this year’s Investec Derby Festival.  Happily the model has also "fallen in love" with Louis’s design, which will perfectly complement her Felicity Brown dress on the day.  "I love hats and coincidentally have an infatuation with birds. I would say this is a signature look for me."

As for the other big social event of the year, the Royal Wedding, Erin speculates about the bridal headgear: "I really hope Kate is given some of the Crown Jewels to wear and doesn’t hold back." One thing’s for sure; there is no chance of the willowy brunette holding back the style when she makes her Epsom Downs Racecourse debut.
