At the start of last season Tallahasse started her new campaign running in the Group 3 Fred Darling stakes at Newbury.

This year the four-year-old bay filly starts off in a Claimer at Redcar.

She won on her first two starts as a two-year-old at Beverley and Hamilton respectively. The way she cleared away from her rivals to win at Hamilton marked her down as a decent sprinter who should have been up to winning at Listed level at least. She has her third and final run as a two-year-old ay Ayr in the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes and finished in midfield some 4 lengths behind the winner.

She was persevered with at a higher level last season running four times in all. Her first three races were in Group 3, Listed and Class 3 respectively and her final run of the season came in a Class 4 Handicap in July. Her trainer Alan Swinbank says that she is working well at home and that she is ready for her first run of the season.

She runs over 6 furlongs today and she has run over the trip five times winning once. She has also won on Good to Firm ground once from three runs.

She has the highest Official Rating in the race by some 7lbs from her nearest rival and a look through the rest of the field does suggest that if she is anywhere near as good as her mark she really should be winning a Class 6 Claimer. She did win first time out as a two-year-old so can go well fresh and her connections will be extremely disappointed if she cannot win down in basement class today.

"I live in the North of Cumbria near the Solway Coast. My wife and I own a smallholding where we keep our horses. I have been involved in racing for over 20 years – the highlight being when a 2yo I owned won first time out at Hamilton Park. I work full-time in the racing game spending my time writing, researching and on course as a paddock judge – you can learn more about a horse’s chances watching them in the pre-parade and parade rings than you might imagine."
