No matter how gorgeous and perfect your outfit is, if your make-up smudges this will put a black mark not only on your face but your whole look.

In order to be the’ Best Turned Out’ your makeup needs as much care and attention as your clothes. To be smudge free, prevention is the key.

Mascara & Eyeliner

Panda eyes only look gorgeous on … you’ve guessed it … pandas. So to prevent mascara and eyeliner from melting or smudging choose waterproof products.

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water Resistant Longwear Liner is an intensely pigmented liquid liner that lasts all day, and there are 20 beautiful colours to choose from. Price £17 from John Lewis.

MAC Extended Play mascara lasts up to 16 hours smudge free. Price£15 from John Lewis.

Eyebrows

A great way to prevent eyebrow meltdown is to have them dyed professionally. However if for some reason you couldn’t make it to the brow bar, then try one of these products:

WunderBrow – smudge proof and waterproof eyebrow that lasts up to three days. The gel is infused with hair-like fibres which look natural and do not smear or melt in the heat. Price £19.95.

Make Up Forever Aqua Brow Kit. This is waterproof and holds up under all conditions. Price £31 from Debenhams.

Another alternative is to keep with brow pencil you already use and just finish off with a small touch of clear Browcote to seal your eyebrow make up. This waterproof brow sealer will hold your eyebrow hairs and colour in place for hours. Price £6.99 from Superdrug.

Blusher & Lips

For both lips and cheeks, use a stain. This lasts longer than ordinary blushers and lipsticks in warm weather and doesn’t appear sticky.

Yves Saint Laurent Kiss and Blush Lip & Cheek Stain has a luminous matte finish. Price £29 from John Lewis.

For more moisture on the lips, apply a lip balm with SPF over the stain.

An alternative is to apply your favourite lipstick brand and seal over with Lipcote. This keeps lipstick fixed for hours with no feathering or fading. Price £3.69 from Superdrug.
