Grand National Ladies Day 2016: The Crabbie’s Grand National Festival commences with Grand Opening Day, a spectacular of Grade One racing, which attracts a crowd keen to enjoy one of the world’s best horseracing Festivals.

The final day is a national treasure, Grand National Day where, for nine minutes, the nation stops and is enthralled by the unfolding drama of the most famous chase in the world.

In the middle of this world-renowned Festival is the stylish and glamourous Ladies Day, first officially established at Aintree Racecourse in the early 2000s.

Racegoers will have the opportunity to compete in the #FabulousFriday Style Award competition alongside top-class racing action on the famous Aintree stage.

Ladies go on the hunt for that perfect dress and gentlemen look for the ideal suit, so on the day, they can compete for the Style Award.

This year, Aintree Racecourse has raised the bar even higher and is offering the winner a prize worth over £43,000 – the biggest-ever prize. The most stylish racegoer will win a white Range Rover Evoque, worth more than £35,000, and £8,000 of prizes from Liverpool ONE, the Of cial Style Partner.

Ladies and gentlemen enter the competition by having a picture taken in a branded photo frame located in different areas of the racecourse.

The Style Award judging panel is made up by four stylish judges including Alex Longmore (@alexlongmore), the Crabbie’s Grand National Official Stylist; Laura Wright (@TheLauraWright), a Ladies Day ambassador and avid fashionista who will also be singing the National Anthem on Grand National Day; Andrew Collinge (@andrew-collinge), award winning Liverpool based hairstylist, and Faye Mines, part of the John Lewis team at Liverpool ONE.

The panel will whittle down the entrants to 10 finalists who will be invited onto the stage at the Red Rum Garden where a winner will be chosen.

2016 sees the introduction of Crabbie’s Grand National Style Ambassador, Alex Longmore. Alex is one of the UK’s top fashion stylists with over 16 years of experience. Having been a favourite stylist among celebrities and starred on different TV shows, Alex styled the Crabbie’s Grand National ambassador, Katie Walsh, for the 2016 Ladies Day advertising campaign.

Aimed at emphasising the glamour of Ladies Day, along with stressing the influence of women in sport, heads have turned at the creative of Katie cantering down the home straight at Aintree dressed in a striking Stella McCartney blue dress.

Alongside becoming the face of the vigorous marketing campaign for a second year, Katie has been involved with social media, taking part in question and answers sessions, and is a key figure throughout Ladies Day at Aintree.

Up to 50,000 people are expected to attend this unique exhibition of style and racing at Aintree on Friday 8th April, with hundreds of thousands more paying attention online or via live television and radio coverage.

Throughout the year, Aintree has been seeking to engage not only the fashion elite but also racegoers before and during the event through its #FabulousFriday social media campaign.

Every Friday since September, 2015, Aintree’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts have featured an array of competitions and engagement pieces focused on areas of fashion and style.

For a second year, the Festival has partnered with Palm Sugar, a cocktail bar in the centre of Liverpool to help reach a higher female audience and push out the #FabulousFriday campaign.

At the end of February, Aintree Racecourse is hosting a #FabulousFriday evening at Palm Sugar with Style judges Alex Longmore and Andrew Collinge discussing the latest fashion and style trends.
