Graced by HM The Queen, the inaugural QIPCO British Champions Day finale gifted the revamped Ascot an opportunity to come of age and enamoured the purist horseracing fan to gush “I was there”:
Fame And Glory grappled back his stayers’ crown; Deacon Blues plundered the sprinter’s division; Dancing Rain stole the Fillies and Mares Stakes; and Cirrus Des Aigles grafted a victory in the Champion Stakes.
However, it was the fabulous Frankel, his fluent, free-flowing victory in the QE II Stakes that was the highlight providing a wonderful denouement to the nascent narrative of the Qipco British Champion Series.
