Palette Grand Bal £60

The inspiration for this couture makeup palette is the essential dance card held by 18th Century girls to note down their dance partners. A soft black eyeliner slots next to the palette like a pencil attached to the dance card. Open up the palette and you’ll find a pearl eye-shadow duo in platinum and gold shades displayed like pleated brocade silks; and two lip gloss shades: a transparent golden nude and a coral shade.

For the cool Ice Queen look use more of the platinum shade with a touch of gold; for the warmer Flame Princess look use the gold with accents of platinum

5 Couleurs Eye shadow – in Night Golds and Fairy Golds £40

Wave your magic applicator wand and use the lightest shade in the palette on the upper part of the inner eyelid to open up the eye. Blend the darkest shade along the eyelash and shade the outer brow with one of the remaining colours. For more intensity use the deepest gold shade under the lower lashes.

Night Golds (shown in image) is the darker of the palettes with deeper and warmer shades: A dark chocolate brown twinkling with flecks of gold; a neutral shimmering taupe and three shades of gold from pale to a gold leaf effect.

Fairy Golds is a lighter palette with cooler shades: Pearlised mid chocolate brown, a neutral mushroom taupe, shimmering rose gold, glittering pale gold and a frosted icy platinum

Both will give a dramatic effect and would be a shame to conceal at a masquerade ball.

To help you flutter your eyelashes, Dior has created two pairs of limited edition false eyelashes.

The image shows Gold Crystals: lashes with soft gold Swarovski crystals along the line. The lashes are fine and criss cross over each other

The second set (not shown) called Pearl Drops has silver pearl drops along the corner lash. The lashes are thick and feathery.

Every fairy tale ball has to have a sprinkling of magic gold dust. This powder gives subtle golden tints when dusted onto cheekbones, shoulders and neckline.

For Christmas, Dior has changed their lipstick case from the signature slim blue to a gold bulbous shape.

Limited edition colours are four shades of red: Diorling (brick red with a hint of golden shimmer), Diva (bright Christmassy red), Marylin (as shown) and Lady (more low key subtle red)

These lipsticks have a matt finish.

This lip gloss can be used alone or as a topcoat. The tinted Gold Lame shade will add the Midas touch to your red lipstick. Gloss all over the lips or dab just in the centre as a highlight.
