Aintree was very different for me this year. I was not tanned and dressed up in my finest or in 6-inch heels for three days, but instead was in my flats looking after my baby boy, changing nappies and washing bottles.
I realise that at the Grand National last year I would have been one week pregnant! Although I didn’t know at the time. Oh how life has changed in a short 12 months! instead of going to Aintree I decided to visit William’s Granny and Grampa up in a very sunny Yorkshire. Mum and Dad both loved having us to stay for a week, they brushed up very well on their grandparenting skills whilst giving me a much needed rest. Thankyou both very much xxxx
Poor Choc had a run of seconds and no winners this year! He rode a horse called West End Rocker in the Grand National owned by a lovely gentleman called Barry Winfield who used to own My Way De Solzen. The lovely little horse was jumping fantastically until he was unluckily brought down at the 5th fence, Becher's. Both Choc and the horse were unhurt thank god, it’s the scariest race of the year to watch I think with all those fences and fallers and this year the sad death of two brave racehorses. On another sad note I want to send my love and get well wishes to a young jockey who was badly hurt at the Aintree meeting called Peter Toole who is still in hospital recovering. The sport can be so unforgiving sometimes. Our prayers and thoughts along with the entire racing industry up and down the country are with him and his family.
Another injured Jockey on the sidelines is little Willy Twiston-Davies who broke his leg yesterday, I hope he has a speedy recovery too. What a crazy first season as a National Hunt Jockey he has had, first unseated at Cheltenham then a great winner at Aintree and now a serious injury, a lifetime of experiences in a short six months.
You may have seen Choc has cut all his hair off! We went to town a few weeks ago after he finally decided to get it all chopped off. I think it looks so funny seeing him ride now with no golden locks out the back of his helmet. Let’s hope it grows back quickly. I love his long hair.
I had my 30th birthday a few weeks ago and went out with all my girl friends for a lovely lunch, it was so nice to see everyone and catch up with them all. Thank you girls for coming along and making my birthday so special for me.
My sister and I have both given up chocolate for Lent so cannot wait for Sunday when we can indulge in all our chocolate delights. Yum Yum. We are heading up to Scotland with William for the Easter weekend to visit some great friends called Johnnie and Jules to stay in their beautiful hotel, I can’t wait.
Happy Easter everyone, I hope you have a great weekend and get lots of Easter eggs and fingers crossed for sunshine.
Lots of love
Meally xx
