Win tickets for a great day of Jump racing at Kempton Park on Sunday 17 October - including a behind-the-scenes tour with top jockey Robert 'Choc' Thornton.

Choc is the ‘face’ of Jump racing at Kempton Park for the upcoming season, and will be on hand to offer racegoers an inside view of the life of a Jockey. Choc, who is currently recuperating from an injury sustained this summer, has experienced some great triumphs at Kempton Park including riding three top class winners, Call Equiname, Flagship Uberalles and Storm Damage, in one day for Champion Trainer Paul Nicholls. Other memorable victories for Choc at Kempton Park include winning the Desert Orchid Chase at the Winter Festival on Voy Por Ustedes in 2006 and again in 2007 for his regular Trainer Alan King.

Features for the day include:

  • Meet and learn about retired equine stars from the charity Heros, who retrain and rehome ex-racehorses
  • An interactive demonstration of a horse’s anatomy, showing what happens when a horse gallops and jumps
  • Saddling demonstration
  • Choc and experts: racing tips for the day followed by an autograph session with the stars
  • Riding tips from Choc for those game to jump on the horse simulator
  • Get up close to a life size steeplechase fence to get a real sense of life as a jockey.

On arrival at the racecourse members of the public can register to walk the final furlong of the racecourse with Choc Thornton to get a jockey’s view of riding a finish. During racing spectators can take the opportunity to go the start of the races and witness the excitement and drama that takes place in the final seconds before the flag drops. For those interested in seeing behind the scenes there will be visits to the commentary box and an integrity talk in the hallowed Stewards Box.
